So as I keep working with molten metals outback in the furnace area it soon became apparent that I would need to make more crucibles. The first set of two crucibles I madefrom some 5 inch steel pipe which I welded a steel plate to the bottom. I also added a hook to the back to use as a pick pointfor pouring the aluminum. This time around I located a piece of 5 inch square steel tube...it was big enough to make two crucibles. To start I cut it in halve with the Ryobi grinder and a cutoff wheel.....it pretty well ate up an entire cutoff wheel splitting the tube into two sections. I wandered down to a friends welding shop and mooched some 1/4" steel plate....then so I wouldn't have to cut it with a hacksaw or the Ryobi I asked if my buddy could fire up the plasma torch and blaze me out a couple 6x6 inch plates which I can use for crucible bases. Using the drill press I then drilled a 1/2" hole into the base plate to use as the I tested the new crucibles for leakage by simply filling teh chamber with water and waited for leaks. Hope you enjoy the video!!! AND BE SAFE with the HOT STUFF.
